Kim Maguire is an Instructor of Foundation Art at ÃÛÌÒÉçÇø Michigan University's Gwen Frostic School of Art. Kim joined the Frostic School of Art in 2021.
Maguire has been a professional artist for more than twenty years. Originally from England, she lived and worked in San Francisco, California after completing her B.F.A. Whilst in San Francisco she participated in the city-wide open studios each year from her studio in the SOMA district, as well as solo and group shows in the Bay Area. After moving to Michigan, she continued her studio practice at Park Trades in Kalamazoo.
Her artwork is diverse, (text, house paint, printed material, video), but always contains elements of sculpture or drawing. Her past studio work included portraits of ex-racing greyhounds which connects to her current visual art practice of examining our relationship to farmed animals and the connection to climate change.
Maguire has exhibited in the United States and England. Her work is in the permanent collection of the Kalamazoo Institute of Art, Olivet College and numerous private collections.
