Graphic Design Intern at Michigan State Football

Provide graphic content for facility televisions that highlight elements of our programs ethics, along with a number of other things. I get to interact with the players and coaches on a day to day basis, forming relationships with them, while being able to create awesome visual content for them too! I create content for MSU Football's social media platforms including graphics that recognize player and university recognitions, announcements for upcoming events. This year I created a game day package of motion graphics to be tweeted during games. Along with that I help with recruitment graphics that are sent to high school athletes, promoting our program and trying to get them to commit to MSU. On game days I assist with an on campus recruit event where I take photos of high school players in an MSU uniform, and once the game starts I am on the sidelines recording highlight videos of the game!

What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is that I have worked here since May and I don't feel like I have worked one day. I truly enjoy going into work and staying late to finish a project I want to see through completely. The most challenging part of this job is the constant need to be creative. I like to push myself to get better every single day, and it is challenging sometimes trying new things and getting out of your comfort zone. It is totally worth it though, because I know that I am growing every time I am challenged with a new task.

What activities, resources, or people helped you prepare for your career?

While in college I worked for 蜜桃社区 football and that job really prepared me for the real world and what working in college athletics would be like.

What advice do you have for students looking for their career after college?

Get a job in the field you want to work in while you are in school. Work just as hard, if not harder at your job than your classes. I'm not saying skip class by any means, because showing up to that 8:00 a.m. class is the closest thing to a real job you may have while in school, but experience in the field is more important than a class. You will feel so much more confident in yourself when you are starting your first day at a job after college if you already have 2-3 years of experience in that field, even if it was just part time. You will learn the soft skills needed to perform that job to the best of your ability and you will be in a much better place because of it!
