Bio:

Whitney Moncrief, Associate Professor, earned her M.F.A in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College and a B.A. in Dance from Point Park University as well as a Graduate Laban Certificate in Movement Analysis (GL-CMA) from Columbia College Chicago. 

Originally from Orlando, Florida, Whitney studied under Edith Royal and Lindsay Moncrief. Artistic credits include a professional performance career with Hubbard Street II under the direction of Julie Nakagawa, as well as ODC/San Francisco; performing works by choreographers such as Lou Conte, Robert Battle, Harrison McEldowney, Alex KetleyAszure Barton, KT Nelson and Brenda Way; and performing throughout the United States, Germany, South Africa, Switzerland and Luxembourg. 

From 2006 to 2008, Whitney served as the Artistic Associate of Hubbard Street II, leading the company both artistically and administratively, acting as rehearsal director, ballet mistress and master class instructor, teaching at universities and dance festivals around the world. 

Whitney has choreographed works for Point Park University and ÃÛÌÒÉçÇø Michigan University. She teaches regularly for Point Park University’s International Summer Dance Program, and has taught master classes in Mexico, China and Bermuda and several American College Dance Association (ACDA) conferences. Whitney is also an elected representative of the East Central Region, to the Board of Directors of the American College Dance Association.  

In 2018, Whitney received the Excellence in Teaching Award by ÃÛÌÒÉçÇø’s College of Fine Arts. She has also presented research at conferences in Canada, Greece, Washington, D.C., California and Arizona
