General summary
Researches, determines, communicates and defends transfer credit decisions for students.
Major duties
- Analyzes student transcripts from multiple types of institutions and organizations to determine transferability of educational experience to the University. Determines admissibility of transfer and re-entry students according to University admissions criteria.
- Creates the official credit evaluation and transfer articulation information in multiple University database systems to ensure accurate reporting, up-to-date information for advising, graduation requirements, correct billing, and financial aid while meeting all University deadlines.
- Creates, updates, and maintains applicant records in the customer relationship management system and student information systems by inputting text-based and numerical information from source documents such as transcripts, standardized test scores, and other application-related material. Prepares records for recruitment-related communication, application review, and student enrollment.
- Initiates follow-up with admissions counselors and other team members regarding transcript issues as needed. Researches and resolves credit evaluation issues. Ensures accuracy and conformity of University requirements to maintain institutional academic integrity.
- Analyzes military service documents to ensure that veterans are granted appropriate credit. Initiates and monitors military credit recommendation forms to ensure credit decisions are made in a timely manner. Develops and updates procedures used to award credit for military service and training. Responds to inquiries regarding credit for military service from internal and external customers.
- Communicates and collaborates with internal and external customers regarding admissions policies and transfer credit policies and procedures. Works in conjunction with international admissions and services to provide credit evaluation services for all students.
- Creates and maintains equivalency records for two and four-year Michigan and non-Michigan institutions. Assists with equivalency database update projects as needed.
- Manages necessary preparations and provides credit evaluation services admissions office recruitment programs on and off-campus.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Required experience
- One year's relevant experience.
- Experience in an office environment.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

- Knowledge of the University鈥檚 academic programs.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
