General summary
Performs a variety of complex accounting/financial functions in accordance with standard procedures and supervisory review.
Major duties
- Applies advanced skills and knowledge of departmental policies and procedures to perform one or more of the following areas: general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable or other related area.
- Maintains financial records. Develops and monitors budgets, reconciles accounts, researches and resolves discrepancies, posts information, and processes payments and billings. Prepares financial documents. May prepare forecasts or make budget recommendations.
- Serves as a liaison with University departments and/or outside agencies to resolve discrepancies and provide information on policies and procedures.
- Communicates with students and authorized users to answer questions and resolve financial issues.
- May create and maintain spreadsheets for use in reporting and tracking.
- May prepare department payroll, prepare cash deposits and perform other clerical functions.
- May provide administrative support and coordinate projects.
- May provide training and supervision to staff and student employees.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Associate's degree or two years' college coursework in a related field from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required experience
- One year's relevant experience.
- Basic accounting concepts.
- Accounting system experience.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
