General summary
Provides strategic leadership to administer the support for computers, devices, and enhancement of the end-user experience for desktop computing across the University.
Major duties
- Provides leadership for information technology support for the department. Manages projects and technology assessments. Participates in University-wide information technology initiatives.
- Assists departments in technology purchasing, planning, and budgetary concerns.
- Ensures the security of the unit鈥檚 information technology resources.
- Administers the enterprise system used to manage and configure end user devices across the organization.
- Establishes and maintains operating policies and procedures for information technology staff and users. Ensures compliance with University standards and industry best practices.
- Manages the installation, maintenance, repair, and decommissioning of old hardware.
- Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises staff.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Five years' relevant experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience providing service to Senior Leadership and Administrators.
- Experience managing and directing external vendor relationships.
Required other
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekends, holidays and on call duty.
Physical requirements
Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
