General summary
Directs development-focused programs designed to increase philanthropic support for funding priorities that are aligned with intercollegiate athletics' strategic objectives.
Major duties
- Creates, implements, and evaluates a business plan that integrates annual, major, planned and corporate giving to secure philanthropic support for intercollegiate athletics funding priorities.
- Successfully engages alumni, faculty, staff and constituents in intercollegiate athletics development activities.
- Builds and sustains collaborative working relationships with intercollegiate athletics staff, team coaches, boosters, community advocates, and University fundraising colleagues.
- Oversees budgets, prepares projects plans containing key fundraising objectives and strategies, and implements project-based fundraising initiatives.
- Identifies, cultivates, and solicits a portfolio of individual and corporate major gift donors.
- Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises staff and student employees.

Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Five years' relevant experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising, sales, marketing, advertising, public relations, communications or related field.
- Willingness to travel on a frequent basis.
- Demonstrated professionalism.
- Capable of motivating volunteers and donors.
- Strong self-motivation.
- Ability to work as a team member in a complex organization.
Required other
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
Desired qualifications
Desired education
- Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Desired experience
- Experience in higher education fundraising.
- Proven success in building productive relationships with senior administrators, key business leaders, faculty, staff, institutional boards, volunteers or donors.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds. 
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
