General summary
Monitors and reviews University compliance with federal, state, and local standard related t accessibility and accommodation for technology, teaching and learning in order to support the University's goal of supporting people with disabilities.
Major duties
- Interprets and applies federal, state and local standards related to accessibility and accommodation for technologies adopted by the University. Reviews and monitors compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act and Rehabilitation Act requirements for applicable areas.
- Establishes and reviews policies and best practices to maintain University compliance with the Rehabilitation Act and Americans with Disabilities Act along with federal, state and local legislation.
- Provides oversight and leadership for Americans with Disabilities Act compliance validation of the information technology product review process for University technology purchases.
- Assists the Web accessibility committee in developing methods for tracking compliance with training requirements.
- Provides collaborative leadership to draft project plans that lead to the implementation of accessibility related changes across the University, including with University faculty, staff and other campus accessibility and compliance administrators.
- Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises staff and student employees.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Lead or supervisory experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of current web accessibility standards and regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
