General summary
Manages an assigned portfolio of planned and major gift donors and prospects. Assists in the design, marketing, and management of the Foundation鈥檚 Gift Planning program.
Major duties
- Develops and promotes relationship strategies for an assigned portfolio of major and planned giving prospects and donors.
- Manages assigned planned gift inquiries initiated by phone, email, mail, website, and email marketing software. Responds to donor inquiries.
- Oversees special projects for the department as assigned.
- Assists in identifying potential planned gift prospects, including determining the interest and affiliation with the University.
- Structures lifetime, blended and deferred gift arrangements with donors in support of the University鈥檚 highest priorities.
- Serves as a technical advisor and gift strategist for donors. Develops proposals, illustrations, gift agreements, and other donor communications.
- Maintains knowledge of new trends in planned giving and tax legislation.
- Cultivates relationships with attorneys, trust officers, accountants, financial planners and other estate planning professionals. Exchanges up to date information on current best practices.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Some relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising, sales, marketing, advertising, public relations, business, financial planning, wealth management or estate planning.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to travel on a frequent basis.
- Demonstrated professionalism.
- Ability to motivate volunteers and donors.
- Ability to work as a team member in a complex organization.
Required other
- Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state. Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
