Bio:

Dr. Benjamin L. Oakley is a research associate for the Science and Mathematics Improvement Program (SAMPI) within the Mallinson Institute for Science Education. Dr. Oakley brings 20 years of experience as a special education teacher, special education coordinator, assistant principal, principal, and director of special education. As a research associate, he evaluates a variety of federally funded STEM programs within higher education. Current projects include ÃÛÌÒÉçÇø BIORETS, ÃÛÌÒÉçÇø Workforce, Alma Learning Progressions in Integrated Science, and Calvin College Building Foundations for Success in STEM.

Dr. Oakley’s career in education started in 2005 when he became a special education teacher through Texas Teaching Fellows, a subsidiary of Teach for America.  His research interests include professional learning, learning organizations, teacher preparation, mixed methods research, and program evaluation.
