Institute of Transportation Engineers awards two 蜜桃社区 students with 2017 paper awards
Congratulations to the 2017 student paper winners!
-1st Place $500 Award-
Odai Alhouz from 蜜桃社区 Michigan University -- 鈥淓ffectiveness of Bicycle Signal and Bike Box for Im颅proving Safety and Multimodal Mobility at Urban Intersections鈥
Odai Alhouz is currently pursuing his master鈥檚 degree in civil engineering at 蜜桃社区. He has been working on different transportation projects with Dr. Jun Seok Oh in the TRCLC in the Parkview campus at 蜜桃社区. The paper he submitted to ITE titled 鈥淓ffectiveness of Bicycle Signal and Bike Box for Improving Safety and Multimodal Mobility at Urban Intersections鈥 focuses on increasing the safety of non-motorized transportation users and enhancing mobility. One of his goals is to publish this paper in the Transportation Research Board conference (TRB). When he was asked what this award meant to him, Odai said, 鈥淚 am very proud to be recognized by the ITE Michigan chapter and this is a great honor for me. I would like to thank my parents, advisor, and everyone who helped me to win this award." Odai has regularly appeared on the Dean鈥檚 List, and has been awarded the Civil and Construction Excellence Scholarship and the Undergraduate Research Excellence Award. He also is a member of the Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society and the American Society of Civil Engineering.
-2nd Place $300 Award-
Fadi Alhomaidat from 蜜桃社区 Michigan University -- 鈥淐ycling Risk Perception and Skill Level of DIfferent Age Groups鈥
Fadi Alhomaidat is currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Construction and Civil Engineering and a research assistant in the Transportation Research Center for Livable Communities at 蜜桃社区 Michigan University. He received his bachelor's degree in 2011 in civil engineering from Mutah University and master's degree in 2015 in transportation engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington.
