D. Eric Archer is an associate professor of higher education leadership in the Department of Educational Leadership, Research, and Technology at 蜜桃社区 Michigan University. He earned his Ph.D. in education leadership and policy studies, as well as his M.S. in marriage and family therapy, from Oklahoma State University. In addition, Dr. Archer earned a B.S. in human development and family studies from the University of Alabama and is a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS). Prior to joining 蜜桃社区, Dr. Archer was a faculty member at Northern Illinois University and Valdosta State University. He has received a number of awards regarding his research and professional service including the New Professional Award from the Association of College and University Housing Officers-International Apartments Committee, the Nevitt Sanford Writing Award from College Student Educators-International (ACPA), and 蜜桃社区鈥檚 College of Education and Human Development Multicultural Advocate for Global Engagement Award.
His research interests include issues of diversity and inclusion in postsecondary education with an emphasis on international education and the internationalization of higher education both in the U.S. and abroad. His work has been published in a variety of outlets including the Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Education, the Journal of College Student Retention: Research, Theory & Practice, the Journal for the Study of Sports and Athletes in Education, Sports and Athletics in Higher Education (ASHE Reader), Disability as Diversity in Higher Education: Policies and Practices to Enhance Student Success, and in the 10th Anniversary edition of Reframing Campus Conflict: Student Conduct Practice Through the Lens of Inclusive Excellence.
