Renovations to Waldo Library鈥檚 programming space launch in July
The University Libraries will launch a construction project on Waldo Library鈥檚 third floor to enhance event and programming space at the end of July. The project is expected to be completed in May 2025.
The majority of the , including library collections, study rooms and the Graduate Student Commons, will remain open. Rooms 3015-3018 and the Meader Room will be closed for the project. Some areas near the rotunda may be rerouted as the project progresses.
The project will transform spaces that formerly housed the University Libraries鈥 Special Collections, which were moved to the Zhang Legacy Collections Center in 2021. Since then, the space has been used for classes, workshops and activities that support learning and well-being. The project will create a more flexible space better suited to the variety of activities happening in Waldo Library.
鈥淲e are excited to be renovating this space for a new purpose,鈥 says Julie Garrison, dean of University Libraries. 鈥淥ver the past three years, we have increased programming to support student learning and well-being. We had the opportunity to reenvision this space to accommodate a variety of emerging event and programming needs for the Libraries and our campus community.鈥
