MDVL 2000: Medieval Encounters: Voices from the Past
MDVL 2000: Medieval Encounters: Voices from the Past, taught through ÃÛÌÒÉçÇø Michigan University's Medieval Institute, is an interdisciplinary course designed to explore interactions of past peoples and let their voices speak to us.
Discover the fascinating peoples of the Middle Ages by exploring dramatic encounters across the medieval world.
Medieval authors tell us about their values: loyalty, love, honor and heroism among others. Their stories reveal their relationships with family, friends and followers, and between peoples of different religions and cultures.
Students will learn how to read, hear and respond to voices from the past, discovering what they can tell us about medieval worldviews and our own.
MDVL 2000 meets the student learning outcomes in the ÃÛÌÒÉçÇø Essential Studies Level 2 – Exploration and Discovery – Course Category: Societies and Cultures.
MDVL 2000 also satisfies General Education Area II: Humanities.
