Graduate Program

The graduate program at 蜜桃社区 Michigan University is a 30-credit hour Master of Music program that includes the examination of current research and issues affecting the clinical, academic, and professional preparation of music therapists. Clinical application is also stressed along with the development of a "model of practice" in music therapy at a local facility as part of the graduate practicum experience that is overseen by a faculty member.  Students in the graduate program have the option to complete either the thesis or a graduate capstone project as the culminating requirement for the degree.

Course work in many other cognate areas is also available for non-music elective course work including, but not limited to:

  • Occupational therapy
  • Speech therapy
  • Psychology
  • Holistic health
  • Gerontology

Admission Requirements for the Master of Music in Music Therapy:

  • Earned baccalaureate degree in music therapy.
  • Complete a preliminary exam in functional piano, music history, and music theory.
  • No GRE scores or formal audition are required as part of the application process.      
  • To apply, candidates must complete a graduate 蜜桃社区 university application, a supplemental 蜜桃社区 School of Music application, and interview with a faculty member.

Graduate Assistantships:

Graduate assistantships are available annually to qualified graduate students in music therapy. The duties of a graduate assistant include the teaching of lower level music therapy courses and clinical supervision of practicum courses.
